Relevant Experience and Publications
After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Yuan worked at Boeing Co., Materials Laboratory, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and NASA Langley Research Center and in the past ten years working in residence at National Institute of Aerospace (NIA). His research includes structural health monitoring/management (SHM), nondestructive inspection (NDI), condition-based maintenance (CBM), artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML), multi-functional materials and composite structures design, nano/meso scale sensors, advanced computing tools with smart sensors, damage prognosis, and energy harvesting.
- Author/co-author of more than 300 publications in machine learning, advanced composite materials and structures, nondestructive inspection (NDI), smart sensors/actuators, structural health monitoring (SHM).
- Faculty advisor 40 Ph.D., 36 M.S., and over 40 visiting scholars.
